Is That A Banana In Your Pocket?

We’ve all been a victim of the bad pick-up line at some point of our life. A guy or girl slowly approaches you, thinking they are about to score, and they hit you with a line like, “Are you wearing space pants? Cause your ass is out of this world” throwing their chances (and dignity) right out of the same door they came through. 

The question at hand is if pick up line users really think that asking a girl to play “hide the sausage” will result in her immediate compliance. And there’s no reason to blame the boys for partaking in these sometimes-witty shenanigans because girls play just as big a role as their male counterparts.

First, let’s just look at a few pick-up lines that both guys and girls often use:

“Hey Honey, I just wanted you to know I’d look great inside you.”

“Is that a mirror in your pants? Cause I can see myself in them.”

“Let’s make like fabric softener and snuggle.”

“My magic watch says you aren’t wearing any panties…Oops it must be 15 minutes fast!”

“Baby if you were words on a page, you would be what they call FINE print.”

“If I were an enzyme, I’d be a DNA Heliocase so I could unzip our genes.”

“If we were both squirrels, I’d share my nuts with you.”

“How do you like your eggs in the morning? Scrambled or fertilized?”

“Hey do you want to go halves…on a baby?”

“Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?

“There’s something wrong with your phone…It doesn’t have my number in it.”

But what constitutes a good pick-up line is really whether or not it is funny. No matter how corny or cheesy your pick-up line is if you get a genuine laugh out of it, usually the guy or girl will know it is a joke and the ice is will be broken. So to say that pick-up lines are ineffective would be false. They are stupid enough to make the other laugh without direct humiliation of self, so in the words of Brian Fantana: “60% of the time, it works every time.”
