Owners of Apple products such as the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch can now download new software that was released from Apple on Oct. 12.
The new software has several new features like a notification center, iMessage and automatic Twitter integration.
Though some users are having difficulties and running into errors, such as “error 3200,” with updating the new software, it hasn’t stopped the widespread download from continuing.
However, the new upgrade is not at all necessary.
“If you don't really need to upgrade, then wait for a later version like 5.1. By then, they fix the bugs that come along with all brand new, major software changes,” Jeff, who works at the Apple Store in the Del Monte Shopping Center, said.
I have gone ahead and made the download myself, but I am not impressed. The notification center does not appear on my phone and although the upgrade only took me eight minutes to download (though the extended download time may have been a result of other Apple users downloading the new software), the bugs are existent and rather bothersome for a frequent phone used like myself.
But so many Apple users have been looking forward to this update. For those of you who can’t wait, the download is available through iTunes and should automatically ask you to upgrade once your device is plugged into the computer.
