Storyteller Coming to Monterey

Diane Ferlatte is an internationally renowned storyteller who has performed all over the country and parts of Europe and South America, just to mention a few. Oct. 11, though, Ferlatte will be at the Monterey Public Library accompanied by musician Erik Pearson. The program is entitled “When the Apple Falls,” which will include stories of encounters, both casual and chance, that have consequences.

Diane Ferlatte originates from New Orleans, Louisiana where she witnessed first-hand the power of storytelling from her grandparents: the use of vivid detail to make the story come to life. She applied this to get her son interested in reading and has not stopped. Ferlatte uses American Sign Language, which she learned, along with music, which she has a degree in, and combines them to give emphasis to the story.

This event is for adults and starts at 6:30 p.m. The tickets are free for those who provide a valid Monterey Public Library card or Pacific Grove Public Library card, or $15. For more information call the Monterey Public Library at 646-3949 or via e-mail: mccombs@ci.monterey.ca.us.
