On Aug. 10, The Holdup excitedly announced California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) as one of the two colleges to play at for their special college edition fall shows. Their Facebook status rocked likes from many CSUMB students within minutes of their update and their arrival on Aug. 26 was much anticipated. The Otter Student Union and hundreds of CSUMB students welcomed The Holdup and Dub Rock Record Label mates, Young Science for the first concert of the year at CSUMB’s primary venue, the Blackbox Cabaret.
The uprising San Jose dub rock, reggae band played popular song “Good Times” from their first album Stay Gold and continued with “Still the Same,” “The Girls,” and “Ruin Love” off their most recent album, Still Gold. The Holdup interacted immensely with the crowd and ended the night and first week of school with students waiting for the next big time at the Blackbox Cabaret. The Holdup updated their Facebook status shortly upon exiting the stage saying, “Thank you Cal State University of Monterey. Great crowd, we love you!!”
A couple CSUMB seniors said the performance was “legit” and “so cool” while exiting the venue. The band took a lot of requests and they served! We hope to see The Holdup continue down the road of success and we look forward for what is next to come at CSUMB’s the Blackbox Cabaret!
